I decided to read Lights Out by Navessa Allen, the very very spicy dark stalker romance to see why everyone was raving about it. Leave your inhibitions behind and have some fun.

Read my 4 star review

Out: Everywhere

First of all, from the very beginning, I became invested because I immediately liked the two protagonists. Aly is a trauma nurse who truly cares about people and Josh is a lonely hacker, lonely because he thinks he has to be due to reasons you will find out. Aly has a mask kink and thirsts over the masked guys she follows online and Josh happens to be her favorite. Obsessed with her he decides to do a little light stalking. And Josh makes stalking seem exciting and simultaneously adorable if that's possible.

How their connection comes about is so funny. He knows who she is but she doesn't know who he really is. At least not yet. Talk about an unconventional love story. Their banter is all the money.

Sexy and deliciously dark, each POV is intimate in how it lets us know each character, honest, intriguing, threaded with great often smartass humor and extremely readable. There were times I was howling with laughter and tears ran down my cheeks with the 'baklava sliding sideways' thing. Not shy when it comes to describing their desire, even when it presents what would be considered dangerous.

Intense, inventive, very very detailed muy caliente spicy scenes, some need to be read to be believed. They are living out their darkest fantasies. Shock and awe. Some people will not be able to handle some of them I think. There is some hyperbole in things they say and do but I'm a romantic and deep down I enjoy the big words and gestures "However f**ked up they may be" as I imagine Aly would say. Also, some dialogue or some thoughts may seem out of time and place. And they certainly are sex-crazed.

Things then become a different kind of thrilling when someone actually wants to hurt Aly, not play out her fantasies. The story morphs into 'we are in deep shit and you won't believe what we do to get out of it' mode. And we must not forget the nail-biting suspense.

This book was wicked fun, certainly sexy but with a great story, hilarious, and such a crazy, unforgettable ride. The ending made me smile because it was utterly Aly and Josh.
